Value Portal
The value zone is in the interface of the business users and IT staff. The CIO need to ensure his team is close to the business and look at that value-zone rather than look up in the organization to try and to please their bosses. Value Portal is an innovative platform that inverts the organization and makes IT managers accountable to the employees in the value-zone, and then employees, in turn, would be empowered to deal directly with the business users. Value Portal serves as an effective interface between the IT staff and the business users and measures ideas and the value created in that interface for the business users. Ideas that IT staff enter can result in a revenue increase or a cost reduction for the business. The business users, in turn, rate each idea on a five-star scale. Each IT employee gets compensated based on each business user’s rating. As a result, the Value Portal changes the IT employee’s perspective to not only focus on the here and now, but what is he or she can do to contribute to the value portal.
